Brits are so obsessed with car cleaning that there is now a two-day festival devoted to it.

Just one bucket, or two? Mitt or sponge? Hose or power washer? We’re just as interested in auto detailing as everyone else on this forum, but we’ll be the first to acknowledge that we’re no specialists in the field.

That there is a festival devoted solely to the art form caught our interest immensely. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Waxstock, Europe’s largest meeting on all things automobile cleaning, and the first-ever two-dayer, taking place at Coventry Arena on July 22 and 23.

Around 60 exhibitors will be present this year to share their wisdom with us filthy plebeians, and we’ve been assured that the attendees at Waxstock are the most seasoned detailers and auto care professionals in the industry.

Cleaning cars is now a £1.7 billion industry in the UK, joining our other national pastimes like queuing, going to the pub, and eating fish and chips. This is according to research conducted by IBISWorld. And there you were, thinking you could get by with an old rag and a bucket.
